East Harbor rock cribs have been deteriorating for years, some have broke loose lately. I have been told that many years ago the board tried to get a permit to put a seawall up, but was denied by the D.E.Q. Well, we have a permit now. Unfortunately, the problem comes in hard times; but that does not mean that it is not worth fixing. The benefits of this project, out weigh the costs by far. Your Board is trying to figure out creative ways to finance this project, there is 200’ of wall to put in this year, a lofty goal but one that is achievable.

The urgency comes with the deteriorating rock cribs. If the ice puts to much strain on them and they do let loose, it would be very costly to clear the Harbor for safe operations. The cost of dredging every 8-10 years, in the harbor is quite costly. The investment in this wall could potentially pay for itself in the monies saved on reoccurring costs.

We have set up a Fund called “Give a Sheet”. Donate a $100 to this worthy undertaking and you will receive a special T-shirt created for this project. Feel proud wearing the “Give a Sheet” logo tee around the club this summer. Show your support to NCYC, just like all the other admirable projects that this club has put through. Although this project could take a few years to finish, we have to be proactive and start now! Please help to keep this the best club on the lakes!
